Complete Dental Hygiene Treatment Including

  • Removal of tartar and biofilm deposits on teeth and roots
  • Collection of a comprehensive health history

Appointments are booked with time to allow for assessment and treatment at your first appointment.  Monica will also discuss the Oral Care Plan that is Best for You to promote optimal Oral Health.
 
This Clinic follows the BC Dental Hygiene Fee Guide.  All Insurances including the Federal Dental Sunlife Plan are accepted.  In most situations Direct Billing to the insurance is provided at the time of the appointment.  Patients are advised of their portions at  appointment time.
 
All Staff at Coastal Smiles and McEwen Denture Clinic are fully vaccinated against Covid19.

There are a limited number of hygienists in BC and across Canada who practice outside the traditional dental office setting. Coastal Smiles is the only independent dental hygiene clinic located on the Sunshine Coast.
 
Monica Maletz has a BSc degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry (1979) located in Southern California.  She has achieved Dental Hygiene Practitioner status with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals. For the past 25 years, Monica has also provided oral health services in hospitals and care homes, specializing in dementia care and treatment for disabled clients. This is part of her 47 years of experience in dental hygiene. She is one of the first in BC (and Canada) to achieve independent hygienist status. Recently, she was recognized by the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association for her 25 years of contribution to independent practice in BC.
 
Education of nursing and care staff regarding has also been an important part of Monica's commitment to the health of those residing in residential care.
